Hance Rapids

Hance Rapids seen from Lipan Point along the south rim of the Grand Canyon

Hance Rapids glistens in the late day sun surrounded by the towering cliffs of the Grand Canyon.  The Rapids are named after Civil War veteran John Hance who mined copper in the canyon and built and operated a small hotel in the area.

This image was captured from Lipan Point off Desert View Drive east of Grand Canyon Village.
