Lower Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located near Page, Arizona.  The narrow canyon, at points barely wide enough for a single person to squeeze through, is carved out of Navajo sandstone by water.  The water carries abrasive sand grains that scour amazing shapes into the stone.

Antelope Canyon is divided into upper and lower sections.  Access to Lower Antelope is more challenging with entry and exit requiring the use of steep ladders.  Lower Antelope is shallower than Upper Antelope and I found that more sand fell from above in Lower Antelope than Upper Antelope. Both sections are on Navajo land and can only be accessed through guided tours.
